Since my background studies basically resume to marketing and advertising, I find it best to start my blogging journey by sharing with you a really inspiring text, written by Brian Solis, on the subject of how the marketing industry is evolving. It’s not that unfrequent to see marketing and communication professionals thinking and commenting on how much paradigms are changing. It really is true that, nowadays, we kind of have to know just about a little bit on, well, basically, everything. We also went from apparently dealing with 4 P’s to having to think about the 7 C’s, and new theories of what’s next seem to appear almost everyday…
It can get a little scary sometimes, specially if you start over-thinking things and constantly find yourself dwelling on the dead end question What should I do next? Everything I’ve learnt on marketing seems to be sooo outdated.
Well, Brian Solis seems to have brought up the issue in a quite inspiring way 🙂
Do you realize just how much is changing right now? I promise you that it’s bigger than you think. And your role in this is also much grander than you know or believe. See, disruptive technology, social networks, new influencers, they’re leveling the media hierarchy. The ado of crafting messages, pushing them upon targets, and propagating them every and any way possible while attempting to control your story is not only the old way, it’s the very thinking that’s held marketing back for decades. But you? You’re at the forefront of a new era and marketing communications and its future is in your hands.
